Step-by Step Teacher's Guide

This Fix-it Phonics Teacher’s Guide contains step-by-step daily guidance to help you deliver your lessons effectively, including pull-out Lesson Outlines to help you structure your lessons, audio transcripts to read along, ideas for crafts and extension activities, integrated assessment and free downloadable resources to support your teaching.

Assessment Strand

We've provided various assessment methods so you can monitor how your students are progressing.

1. Unit Listening Tests

At the end of each Unit, children complete a listening test. There's a handy record sheet for you to collate the results of these listening tests so you can quickly identify those children needing more listening support.

2. Skills Assessments

Because some children may need more focused attention on a particular skill, we have included Skills Assessments to help you identify and support individual learning areas.

3. Final/Placement Assessment

A simple, but thorough final assessment for all students is available online here. The assessment includes the sounds and spelling patterns from Level 3 and many of those introduced earlier in the Fix-it Phonics programme to ensure mastery.

Pull-out Lesson Outlines

The lesson plans in the Teacher's Guide contain detailed information, such as the audio scripts, language to use and answers to questions. There are pull-out Lesson Outlines at the front of the Teacher’s Guide. Once you are fully familiar with the

lesson structure, these Outlines can be used as a quick reminder of the steps to cover in each lesson.

Scan to listen along!

The Student Books and Workbooks both have accompanying audio that can be accessed by scanning the QR codes at the front of the books using a mobile or tablet. For more information on our scan to listen along feature, please check out this blog post.

Free Downloadable Teacher Resources

There is a bank of supporting resources (including audio) that will aid teaching with the Fix-it Phonics (Second Edition) Level 3 materials.
